What is a runtime error? A runtime error is an error that is created during the execution of an application that is being run on a computer. There are many different causes of runtime errors and a few things that you can do to try and resolve the problem.
There are a few common causes of a runtime error. They include a conflict with another application that is running on the computer, an issue with the software itself, a computer virus that has changed settings and is taking up memory resources or an issue with the memory in your computer itself. If you are getting a runtime error with an error code number, be sure to look it up on the internet so that you have a better understanding of what has caused the problem.
If there is no error code associated with the runtime error that you have received, or the information did not help you in understanding the problem, there are a few things that you can do to try and correct the issue. First and easiest is to use the task manager in your Windows operating system to close all running applications other than the one you are trying to use. This will correct runtime errors that occur as a result of two different applications conflicting with each other. If you are using the Windows 95 or Windows 98 operating system and closing all applications does not solve the problem, you can also check to be sure that there are no applications being loaded in the autoexec.bat and config.sys files. If you do not know how to do this, you can find a tutorial online.
If you still are having the runtime error it is likely that there is a problem with the software that is having the errors. You will want to check with the company that has created the software to make sure that there are no updates or fixes that they have made to correct these problems. If there are not any updates, you can try and correct the problem by uninstalling and reinstalling the application that you are having troubles with. Unfortunately, this means that if the runtime errors are occurring within your operating system, you may need to reinstall Windows. Runtime errors may also be caused by add-on software that is used by the program. If you do have add-ons or plug-ins installed for the application that is giving you errors, try uninstalling them to be sure that they are not the cause.
A computer virus can also cause runtime errors on your computer. This is because they often will change your system settings and tamper with the memory in your computer. Be sure that you have an antivirus application running on your computer and that it has been updated to the most recent level so that it is able to protect you from attacks by computer viruses
If you have tried everything above and are still getting the runtime error it is possible that the problem lies within the memory or other hardware installed in your computer. You should be sure the contact the company that has designed the software you are using and if there are no solutions you are going to have to contact the manufacturer of your computer hardware for recommendations or service.
